Sale Season (FW 2021)
It’s that time of the year. Sales are officially in full swing.
Here are the current list of sales happening right now ( it will be updated weekly):
Saint Laurent mugs, totes, coasters, cool gifts under $150
SSENSE (private). Log into your account to see if you have access.
Here are some tips to help navigate this sale season.
1.) Make a wish list
The deals will be plentiful but make sure to make a wish list. Every season I compile a list of my top 5 must haves, it prevents me from buying something just because it’s on sale. I'm sure we have all been there and have items in our closets that go unused because of this.
This is my current wish list for this season:
Left to right: Bottega Lug Boot. Balenciaga Upside down blouse (currently on sale). Bottega Intrecciato Lido. Loewe Paula's Ibiza original sunglasses(currently on sale). Prada Re-Edition 2000 faux fur shoulder bag.
2.) Shop around and do your research
I can’t express this enough. I use sites like Shopstyle and Lyst daily to find the best pricing and sizing availabilities, with hundreds of online retailers this cuts the searching time in half.
3.) Know when to purchase
20%, 40%, 60%, 80% off?
The first markdowns usually have the best sizing options and availability. As markdowns increase, sizing/availability will become limited. This season there is also a shortage of merchandise due to the global supply chain interruptions. If you can wait for deeper markdowns do it, just be realistic with your expectations.
4.) Know the policies
It's essential that you remember the three sisters of sale.
Final sale. Price matches. Price adjustments.
Final sale: Items marked final sale are non-returnable. FYI: Certain boutiques within department stores are final sale. ALWAYS ASK!
Price adjustment: If a retailer marks down the price of an item you've already purchased, they can adjust it within a certain amount of days. This varies by retailer.
Price matching: I wrote about my pricing matching experience here.
I hope these tips were helpful, let’s have a good sale season.
